Rake-Free Report #04: San Antonio’s Newest Poker Clubs – Which Ones Are Worth Your Time?

San Antonio’s poker scene is expanding fast, and we’ve checked out the latest clubs to open their doors. Some bring serious game, others are just getting started—here’s the real rundown.

In partnership with

🏆 Rustlers Club – The Dave & Buster’s of Poker?

First off, this place is massive. Feels less like a typical poker room and more like a full-on gaming venue. Poker tournaments and cash games? ✅ But they also have a dedicated table games section with custom games like Party Pair (never played, but my wife had a blast) and Buckeye (a blackjack alternative).

They’ve got slots (skill-based for legality), pool tables, a jukebox, and bar-style games. Word on the street is a liquor license is coming soon. It’s definitely a social club first, poker club second—but if you want more than just poker, this is a solid choice.

Worth a visit? 9/10

🃏 The Big Blind – Great Building, Some Growing Pains

Visually, the place is really nice. Modern, clean, and set up to be a serious poker spot. But the staff seemed a little lost—not sure what promos were actually running versus what’s on the website.

That said, if you just want poker, it delivers. The dealers are solid, the action is steady, and it’s open 24/7.

Worth a visit? 7.5/10 (If they iron out the kinks, could be higher.)

🔥 Lodge Card Club San Antonio – Big Move, Big Room

This club used to be Rounders, and now it’s under The Lodge brand—which is a huge shift. They’re expanding to add another 30 tables, making this one of the biggest poker rooms in Texas.

The freerolls and promos are some of the best in town, and there’s still solid volume. But it’s not what it used to be—the location isn’t my favorite (shopping center feels meh), and it seems like they’re still rebuilding the crowd.

Worth a visit? 9/10 (Promos are great, let’s see if they regain that Rounders energy.)

♠ Alamo Card House – Small Room, Home Game Feel

If you like a smaller, more personal vibe, this might be your spot. 4-5 tables running most nights, some decent promos, and a few slots for side action. It’s not trying to be a massive poker room—it’s a home game that happens to be a club.

That’s a good or bad thing depending on what you’re looking for. Action is steady, players seem like regulars, and it’s definitely worth a stop if you prefer smaller rooms.

Worth a visit? 7/10 (If you like a low-key, tight-knit room.)

Final Take – Where Should You Play?

For poker + entertainment → Rustlers Club
For a serious poker grind → The Big Blind
For the biggest games → Lodge Card Club SA
For a home-game feel → Alamo Card House

San Antonio poker is growing fast, and these clubs are carving out their lanes. Some are fully dialed in, others still figuring things out. We’ll keep checking them out—got a club we should visit? Let us know.
